Iron Ore
Iron Ore
Iron ores are rocks from which metallic iron can be economically extracted. The primary use of iron ore (98%) is to make steel. Praxko deals mainly in Iron ore Lumps & Fines and Iron ore pellets.
The highest quality iron ores for steelmaking are hematite (Fe2O3) and magnetite (Fe3O4). Hematite is the more sought-after ore and the preferred raw material in efficient steelmaking mills.
Iron ore fines come from the natural raw iron ore through the process of mining, crushing and screening, where the iron ore is separated into lumps and fines. According to industry standards, the size of iron ore lumps lies in the range of 6.3 mm to 31.5 mm and iron ore fines are less than 6.3 mm which have iron content ranging from 56%–66%.
Iron Ore Pellets
Iron ore pellets are spheres of typically 6–16 mm (0.24–0.63 in) to be used as raw material for blast furnaces. Pellets are small balls of iron ore used in the production of steel. The process of pelletizing combines mixing of the raw material, forming the pellet and a thermal treatment baking the soft raw pellet to hard spheres.
Praxko's far reaching trading capabilities have resulted in tie up's with high quality iron ore pellet manufacturers around the globe This enables us to supply premium quality with consistent specifications throughout the year.
Sponge Iron/DRI
Praxko supplies sponge iron from various manufacturers. Uniformity of quality is given paramount importance while selecting a source. It helps in improved efficiency of the furnace and lower energy consumption in steel making.
Mainly Sponge Iron plants uses the iron ore and coal to produce Sponge Iron. This ensures very high metallization of Sponge Iron. Sponge Iron is fast becoming a significant input in low-cost steel production. Global market trends predict a steady upward movement.
It is used increasingly in Electric Arc and Induction furnaces to dilute the contaminants present in the scrap used in these processes. It has an associated energy value in the form of combined carbon, which has a tendency to increase furnace efficiency. For captive DRI production facilities, there is an added advantage that the delivery of hot DRI to the furnace can reduce energy consumption to 16 – 20%.
Thermal Coal
Thermal Coal also known as steam coal or just 'coal' , is used for power and heat generation. Praxko supplies thermal Coal ranging from 3500 GAR to 7000 GAR.
Thermal coal, mainly used to generate heat and power in thermal power plants.
Thermal coal, also known as 'steaming coal' or just 'coal', is widely used as the principle means of generating electricity in much of the world. (Thermal coal differs from coking coal, which has a higher energy content and is chiefly used in metal making rather than electricity production.)
Metallurgical Coal
Metallurgical coal or coking coal is a grade of coal that can be used to produce good-quality coke. Coke is an essential fuel and reactant in the blast furnace process for primary steelmaking. The demand for metallurgical coal is highly coupled to the demand for steel.
Used in the process of creating coke necessary for iron and steel-production.
Pet Coke
Petroleum coke is a by-product of crude oil refining from tar sands. It consists mainly of carbon, with variable amounts of sulphur and heavy metals. It is used mainly in the production of steel and aluminium.
Lower grade pet coke which has higher content of sulphur is used a fuel in coal fired power plants and cement kilns. Lower grade pet coke is about 70-80% of the pet coke produced globally.
